What does educational planning mean?
It means identifying and then planning out the Chaffey College classes that you will need to take to accomplish your educational goal of completing a certificate, Associate's Degree or transfer to a University.  In other words, which Chaffey College courses do you need to take and in what order.  An educational plan helps you save time and money by taking the right classes.

How do I complete an educational plan?
There are numerous ways to complete an educational plan, either through a workshop, visiting the GPS Center, or one-on-one appointment with a counselor. To complete an educational plan, call the Counseling Department to determine which option is appropriate for you. Please call (909) 652-6200 for the Rancho Counseling office, (909) 652-7400 for the Fontana Counseling office, or (909) 652-8001 for the Chino Counseling office.

Which educational plan is right for me?
1. Abbreviated Student Educational Plan: This plan is created with the help of a Counselor and/or GPS Success Guides to determine which courses are appropriate to enroll in during your first semester, which does not outline all the courses needed to reach your degree and/or transfer requirements. To make a counselor approved abbreviated student educational plan you have two options:

ASEP Planning Workshop – Attend a workshop lead by a counselor. To attend a workshop you need to call the Counseling Department to reserve your spot. This option is NOT available to students with other college transcripts or who have completed more than 15 units.

Meet With a Success Guide - Go to a GPS Center and meet with a Success Guide to create an abbreviated educational plan. That plan will then be given to a Counselor to approve. The approved classes will be visible in the New Student Planning tool. No appointment is needed to see a success guide, they are available on a walk-in basis. This option is not available to students with other college transcripts or who have completed more than 15 units.

2. Comprehensive Student Educational Plan: This plan is created with the help of a Counselor to determine the semester by semester courses needed to complete your degree and/or transfer requirements. For this option you must call the Counseling Department New Windowto make an appointment. This option is available to students who have other college transcripts or who have completed more than 15 units.
