Evaluating Websites

• Use Wikipedia to get a background on your topic (but don't cite it as a source for your paper!).
• Use Wikipedia's citations and references to find authoritative sources on your topic.
• Use the Evaluating Websites Tutorial (below) to help you decide whether a website is trustworthy or not.
• Think about Author, Publisher, References, and Editorial Process when reading information on the web.
• The web is full of opinions! Make sure that you can tell the difference between facts (scholarly research, statistics) and opinions (blogs, opinion articles). Only cite facts for your papers ✔️
