Foster parents receive financial assistance to support the child(ren) placed in their homes. CFS provides information, training, and support to those interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Orientation and training schedules are flexible to accommodate working parents, and are culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of families. Staff are available to assist you through the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent.​

We are here to provide resource support and access to resources for foster parents, or resource parents, who need financial/medical assistance and training to care for a child. Resources are also available to support children in foster care, including those transitioning out of foster care to living independently.

Thousands of children in California's foster care system require temporary out-of-home care because of parental neglect, abuse, or exploitation. The largest percentages are African American and Latino children. Some stay in foster care for weeks; some for years. The children are of all ages and varying needs. Foster parents provide a supportive and stable family for children who cannot live with their birth parents until family problems are resolved.

CB provides funding to states and tribes to provide safe foster care placements for children and youth who cannot remain in their homes. Our funding also provides assistance to youth aging out of foster care so that they can achieve self-sufficiency. The Children’s Bureau implements the following foster care programs: The Title IV - E Foster Care Program; The John H. Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood (Chafee)

The California Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson is a government office dedicated to serving foster youth in California by investigating and resolving complaints about foster youth rights, care, placement, and services. The OFCO is an autonomous entity that is empowered to investigate and informally resolve complaints impacting foster youth, increase awareness about foster youth rights, and make recommendations to help support systemic change.

Ark Homes Foster Family Agency is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization that is licensed by the state of California. We continue to strive for excellence in making a difference in the lives of children. Our foster care program provides stable, loving homes for children and teens from infancy to 18 years of age who are unable to live with their biological families. Children referred to the program are often victims of abuse and neglect and have special emotional needs. We facilitate foster care homes throughout the Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange counties.

California Kids Belong started in 2020 as a pilot of America’s Kids Belong. Our mission is to improve the experiences and outcomes for kids in California’s foster care system.

The Children’s Foundation of America supports high-quality programs for children through solicitation of funds, engagement of volunteers and partnerships within the community. Our team is 100% volunteer-run!

The National Foster Youth Institute is dedicated to ensuring that current and former foster youth have a seat at the table alongside legislators, policymakers, decision makers, families, and advocates.

A Sense of Home strives to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care with donated furniture and home goods.
50% of those struggling with homelessness are former foster youth.
The homeless crisis can only end through prevention.
