Generic Embedded Librarian: A How-to Guide

The following materials contain information for the types of notification emails that the generic embedded librarian account will receive from Canvas. You will see "Poe the Panther Librarian" referenced here; however, we will be moving away from "Poe the Panther Librarian". However, the information found here and the types of Canvas emails we will receive will remain the same.

The library email should be checked daily for questions and course invitations that come in via Canvas. Here are types of emails that you may see:

• Student research questions: Look for emails from students that begin with “Ask Poe, the Panther Librarian."  These are questions and comments that we need to respond to. Marked as red below. (see step 5)
• Course invitations: Course invitations require follow-up. Marked as blue below. (see step 3, when a course gets added.)
• Published Poe discussions: When faculty publish the Poe discussion we create, it sends us an email. These can be archived. Marked as pink below. 
• Student assessments: These can be archived, as LibWizard has these on file. Marked as green below. 
• Lots of random course materials: Because Poe is embedded in so many courses as a Librarian, we often get emails when files are added to courses and for various other course interactions. Everything like this can be deleted. Marked as yellow below.
