The library offers in person research sessions taught by a team of librarians at Rancho, Chino, Fontana, and affliated Chaffey sites such as Dual Enrollment courses. The sessions can be tailored to the specific directions and requirements of your class assignments. Sessions can be scheduled in your classroom at all Chaffey campuses and in the Rancho Library classroom. Orientation times can range anywhere from 10-90 minutes long, depending on request and the information covered.
The library offers research activities for students that can be added to library instructions on topics such as Fake News and Scholarly Peer-reviewed Journal Articles. Workshops covering these topics are also available through the Success Centers.
Instructors have noted marked improvement in the quality of student papers after attending a library orientation session!
Please submit the following request form at least 7 days in advance. Requests are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be confirmed by a librarian.
Librarian research instruction is available for online, hybrid, or face-to-face classes. Areas covered include online, librarian-led research discussions, question moderation, and Canvas Chat office hours. A team of librarians will assist your students, under the alias "Poe, the Panther Librarian," offering discussions on topics such as how to pick a topic, scholarly and popular articles, how to use databases and more.
