A reference book contains factual information that we refer to when we are seeking specific information. For example, when we want a definition of a word, we will refer to a dictionary. Other examples include encyclopedias, atlases, and almanacs. Unlike fiction books, for example, we do not read reference books from the first page to the last page; we consult these books for specific information.
We depend on electronic devices for directions, and most of us are familiar with Google Maps, but technology can have hiccups. Thus, a map of Grand Canyon National Park or Seattle may be useful to pack.

With respect and honor for the lands where Chaffey College resides and the leaders who came before us, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the Gabrieleño-Tongva (GABRIEL-EN-YO TONG-VAH) Peoples, the original stewards of these sacred and unceded homelands. The Tongva people’s history, language(s), cultural traditions, and legacy continue to shape this region and we recognize their continuing presence in their homelands.
